Simon is a consultant arborist and landscape heritage consultant who has worked in the field of landscape management since 1997 and leads our Melbourne operations.
With expertise in the assessment and management of trees and heritage landscapes, Simon has worked on many assessments for sites of local, state and national significance for planning applications, planning scheme amendments and Heritage Victoria registrations, as well as the preparation of conservation analyses, management plans and heritage impact statements.
Simon provides advice on managing trees in the urban environment, including infrastructure projects, street tree strategies, tree selection and replacement plans. He regularly appears as an expert witness at VCAT, as well as before Planning Panels Victoria, the Victorian Heritage Council and the Supreme Court of Victoria.
Since then, his work has involved:
• Due diligence, preliminary tree assessments and tree protection plans;
• Landscape heritage assessments, conservation analyses, heritage impact assessments and significant tree studies;
• Data collection and GIS mapping for major road, rail, power and water infrastructure projects;
• Impact assessments for Environmental Effects Statements (EES);
• Supervision and certification of construction works;
• Street tree strategies.
Simon is a member of the Victorian Tree Industry Organisation and the International Society of Arboriculture.
